What is the definition of hydrophilic guidewire?

Publish Time: 2022-10-24     Origin: Site

The hydrophilic guidewire enhances catheter tracking with its smooth coating and sleek surface. The robust nickel-titanium alloy core adds maneuverability in tortuous anatomy, and a 1:1 torque ratio ensures precise handling. H2O is kink and thrombus resistant. Its stiff shaft technology provides strength and stability during catheter placement and replacement.

What are the features of hydrophilic guidewire?

Hydrophilic Coating

hydrophilic guidewire's increased lubricity enhances catheter tracking. Consistently smooth surface ensures coating integrity.

Solid Nitinol Cores

Kink-resistant core for precise handling and maneuverability in tortuous anatomy with 1:1 torque ratio

Increased radiopacity

hydrophilic guidewire's proprietary polymer technology provides enhanced visibility under fluoroscopy.

Anti-thrombotic

Smooth polyurethane sheath and hydrophilic polymer significantly reduce the potential for thrombus formation on the guidewire.

Rigid Shaft Technology

Provides strength and stability during catheter placement and exchange

Availability

The hydrophilic guidewire is available in a variety of diameters, lengths and tip configurations to ensure the correct guidewire is available for a variety of diagnostic procedures. Proprietary manufacturing processes with tight process tolerances provide reliable, high-performance wires.

What is the scope of use of hydrophilic guidewire?

The hydrophilic guidewire is suitable for selective cannulation of bile ducts (including but not limited to the common bile duct, pancreatic duct, cystic duct, and left and right hepatic ducts). Endoscopic guidewires are designed to insert and exchange catheters, cannulas and sphincterotomes during endoscopic pancreatico-biliary surgery. The hydrophilic guidewire is made of a controllable metal core wire covered with a polymer coating. The outer radiopaque polymer layer is also covered with a hydrophilic coating. Guidewires are available in two different tip styles.

What are the components of the hydrophilic guidewire?

The basic structure of hydrophilic guidewire includes four parts: core, tip, cover and coating.

The core is the basic structure of the guide wire and can be functionally divided into three sections: the shaping section, the transition section (taper tapering) and the support section. The material of the core determines the strength, durability and flexibility of the guide wire, usually stainless steel, nickel-titanium alloy, or high-tensile stainless steel, etc., in a cylindrical shape that runs through the entire length of the guide wire. Stainless steel is the earliest and most commonly used guide wire core manufacturing material. It has strong hardness, good supporting force, good pushability and torque conductivity, but poor flexibility and easy winding.
